Cub World at Camp Tom Wooten (on the LCRA Lost Pines Scout Reservation)

Near Bastrop, Texas
Used by: Cub Scout packs only

Map it: Google | Yahoo

Cub World is roughly 150 acres of fun, adventure and imagination for Cub Scouts and their families. Areas like Fort Houston and the Native American village recreate what life was like during the early days of Texas, complete with a BB gun range and archery area. The Mineshaft takes Scouts underground to search for “buried treasure”. The swimming pool at Cub World can handle 150 people at a time. Lake Bastrop (public lake) is accessible on Cub World property.

How do we reserve a spot?

4 things you can do to make your pack’s visit to Cub Word an enjoyable experience

1. Attend the Cub World general orientation and or read the General Orientation Guide Book (listed above under “Camping”). The orientation booklet will answer many of your questions about Cub World. The General Orientation is held on the second Monday of each month at 7 pm, building 82, at Camp Mabry in Austin from September through May. RSVP your attendance to Martin Payne, Council Camping Director, at mpayne@bsamail.org or 512-617-8616

2. Once you arrive at Lost Pines Scout Reservation, check in with the Campmaster. The Campmaster’s cabin is located at the front entrance of Lost Pines Scout Reservation, behind the Camp Tom Wooten directional sign. If the Campmaster is not available, check in with the Camp Ranger located across the road from the Campmaster’s cabin.

3. Packs are urged to arrive as a group at your pack’s designated arrival time. This allows the Campmaster and Camp Ranger to assist other units and groups that might be using other programs of Cub World and Lost Pines Scout Reservation.

4. Arrive at your designated reservation time. Arriving early prevents the camp staff from having adequate time to prepare for your pack’s arrival – things like cleaning restrooms and campsites. Arriving early also disrupts other packs that are in camp using programs areas or campsites prior to your reservation.

- Capitol Area Council units do not have to pay a camping fee to use any Capitol Area Council camping property for regular weekend camping or day events. Out of Council units will have to pay $3 per camper
- Campsites are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis
- Capitol Area Council and out of Council packs must make their reservation at least six weeks before date of use (must reserve as a pack, not a den)
- You do NOT have to submit any other camping permit
- All units must satisfy BSA two deep leadership standards
- At least one leader is required to attend Cub World Orientation. At this orientation, you will be certified as a Cub World Range Officer, and will receive a Program Guide for your reserved themed program area. The guide will have suggested program activities for den and pack meetings before your trip to Cub World and while you are at Cub World.
- All program area fees must be paid in advance to the Capitol Area Council office
- Packs using Cub World for weekend camping must have a completed medical form on file with the council office for every Scout and adult participating in the campout. CLICK HERE to get the form.
- Packs using the Cub World swimming pool must have a completed swim check form on file with the council office for every Scout and adult participating in a swimming activity. CLICK HERE to get the form.

- We are building an online camp reservation and payment system. Until its completion, we ask that you download the Cub World registration form, complete the form and return it to the Council service center.
