Our council began in 1912 and has grown over time to support Scouting programs in 15 Central Texas counties: Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, DeWitt, Fayette, Gillespie, Gonzales, Hays, Lavaca, Lee, Llano, Mason, Travis, and Williamson.

We had a great time celebrating all our Scouts who earned the rank of Eagle last year during our council’s Eagle Class of 2023 reception at the Fickett Center! In the ceremony, we shared stories of Eagles whose service projects have inspired their life’s work. Eagle Scout Amit Banerjee turned his project into a “TED talk” and a nonprofit with the same theme: you’re never too young to start making a difference in your community.

IOLS (Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills) is a required course for Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters to be fully trained. But is there a better reason to take the course other than you "have" to? You bet there is! Charles Mead, Director of Marketing and Public Relations, discusses with Randal Goltzman, Capitol Area Council Training Committee member, the upcoming IOLS being offered at Lost Pines Scout Reservation, May 17-18, 2024.
